Iran hanged two opponents accused of being « enemies of God »

Iran has hanged two opponents Thursday accused of being « enemies of God and belong to a monarchist group, according to the ISNA news agency quoted a statement from Tehran prosecutor and counsel for one of two men. Both opponents, notably accused of being « mohareb » (enemies of God), had been sentenced to death last October as part of a series of trials of dissidents and protesters arrested during the riots that followed the disputed reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in June.

The executions of opponents, made after the confirmation sentence appeal of two convicts by ISNA, are the first since the events of June. The statement of the prosecutor of Tehran has also announced that nine other dissidents sentenced to death are currently awaiting the verdict of the court of appeal. « Nine other rioters are still in the appeal stage, and if convicted, the sentence will be enforced by law.

Iran : pendaison de deux opposants accusés d’être des « ennemis de Dieu »

L’Iran a exécuté par pendaison jeudi deux opposants accusés d’être « ennemis de Dieu » et d’appartenir à un groupe monarchiste, selon l’agence Isna citant un communiqué du procureur de Téhéran et l’avocate de l’un des deux hommes. Ces deux opposants, accusés notamment d’être « mohareb » (ennemis de Dieu), avaient été condamnés à mort en octobre dernier, dans le cadre d’une série de procès d’opposants et de manifestants arrêtés au moment des émeutes ayant suivi la réélection contestée du président Mahmoud Ahmadinejad en juin.

Ces exécutions d’opposants, intervenues après la confirmation en appel de la sentence des deux condamnés selon Isna, sont les premières depuis les manifestations de juin. Le communiqué du procureur de Téhéran a également annoncé que neuf autres opposants condamnés à mort attendaient actuellement le verdict de la cour d’appel. « Neuf autres émeutiers sont encore dans la phase d’appel, et s’ils sont condamnés, la sentence sera exécutée selon la loi ».
