Nine Iranian journalists working for various media, including a photographer, were arrested over the last two days, reported Monday the reformist daily Etemad and several opposition websites.

Etemad reported the arrests of Mr. Akbar Montajabi, chief of the weekly political reformer Iran Dokht and Mrs Mahsa Jazin, working for the government daily Iran in Isfahan (central), and Mr Ahmad Jalali Farahani, of agency Mehr. The opposition and reformer website Rahesabz announced for his part the arrests of Mr. Ehsan Mehrabi, everyday moderate Farhikhtegan and Mrs. Zeynab Kazem-Khah, the ISNA news agency.

The opposition website Kaleme.org of opposition leader Mir Hossein Moussavi, has also announced the arrests of Mr. Hassan Zohour, working for the news agency of the Iranian tourism, photographer Amir Sadeghi from the daily newspaper Farhang Ashti, and two other journalists whose membership is not specified, Ms. Somayeh Momeni and Ali Kalahi.

The reasons for these arrests were not specified, but they play a few days of the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution celebrated February 11, Rahesabz said. The opposition leaders have called on their supporters to demonstrate on this occasion. According Kaleme.org, 55 journalists are currently detained in Iran.

Before this wave of arrests, Reporters Without Borders estimated that at least 42 the number of journalists detained in Iran since the disputed reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in June 2009 and the ensuing protests.

Neuf journalistes iraniens travaillant pour divers médias, dont un photographe, ont été arrêtés au cours des deux derniers jours, ont rapporté lundi le quotidien réformateur Etemad et plusieurs sites d’opposition.

Etemad rapporte les arrestations de M. Akbar Montajabi, chef du service politique de l’hebdomadaire réformateur Iran Dokht, ainsi que de Mme Mahsa Jazini, travaillant pour le quotidien gouvernemental Iran à Ispahan (centre), et M. Ahmad Jalali Farahani, de l’agence Mehr. Le site d’opposition réformatrice Rahesabz a annoncé pour sa part les arrestations de M. Ehsan Mehrabi, du quotidien modéré Farhikhtegan, et de Mme Zeynab Kazem-Khah, de l’agence Isna.

Le site d’opposition Kaleme.org, du leader de l’opposition Mir Hossein Moussavi, a annoncé également les arrestations de M. Hassan Zohouri, travaillant pour l’agence d’information de l’organisation iranienne du tourisme, du photographe Amir Sadeghi du quotidien Farhang Ashti, ainsi que de deux autres journalistes dont l’appartenance n’est pas précisée, Mme Somayeh Momeni et M. Ali Kalahi.

Les raisons de ces arrestations n’ont pas été précisées, mais elles interviennent à quelques jours du 31ème anniversaire de la révolution islamique célébré le 11 février, souligne Rahesabz. Les dirigeants de l’opposition ont appelé leurs partisans à manifester à cette occasion. Selon Kaleme.org, 55 journalistes seraient actuellement détenus en Iran.

Avant cette vague d’arrestations, l’organisation Reporters sans Frontières estimait à au moins 42 le nombre de journalistes arrêtés en Iran depuis la réélection contestée du président Mahmoud Ahmadinejad en juin 2009 et les manifestations qui ont suivi.
