After viewing successful in Switzerland, one of the 35mm prints of the film arrives in France to start a new tour. Recently screened at the « Festival Resistances » this film traces the recent events in Iran. The director Mehran Tamadon has immersed in the world most extreme advocates of the Islamic Republic, The Bassidjis.

« For almost three years, I’ve decided to immerse myself among the most extremist supporters of the Islamic republic of Iran (the Bassidjis), to get a better understanding of their way of thinking. We come from the same country yet there’s an enormous gulf between us. Being an Iranian man living in France, an atheist, and son of Communists activists under the Shah’s rule should put me on a collision course with the convictions of those who follow the current regime’s dogmas. And yet a dialogue opens up. However, beneath the charm offensive and the rhetoric, the moments of frankness and the reality of the political and religious system they support, to what extent are our respective beliefs likely to accommodate a real understanding of the other? » Mehran Tamadon

The film will be screened in French cinemas next October 20.

Après un passage en Suisse couronné de succès, l’une des copies 35mm du film arrive en France pour démarrer une nouvelle tournée. Dernièrement projeté au Festival Resistances ce film retrace les récents évènements en Iran. Le réalisateur Mehran Tamadon s’est immergé dans le monde des défenseurs les plus extrêmes de la république islamique, Les bassidji.

« Pendant près de trois ans, j’ai choisi de pénétrer au coeur du monde des défenseurs les plus extrêmes de la République islamique d’Iran (les bassidjis), pour mieux comprendre les paradigmes qui les animent. Nous venons du même pays, et pourtant, tout nous oppose: Iranien habitant en France, athée et enfant de militants communistes sous le Shah, j’ai tout pour heurter les convictions de ceux qui respectent les dogmes du régime. Un dialogue se noue pourtant. Mais entre les jeux de séduction et de rhétorique, les moments de sincérité et la réalité du système politique et religieux qu’ils défendent, jusqu’où nos convictions respectives sont-elles prêtes à s’assouplir pour comprendre qui est l’autre? » Mehran Tamadon

Le film sera projeté dans les cinémas français le 20 Octobre prochain.
